How Much is Enough?

There are those who shop and those who resist

This Christmas take time to remember the star

that enchanted the Magi like moths from afar.

All babies and parents, all the stories we know

are fashioned from matter cooked up when stars blow.

From the stars we all came, Mary, Jesus, and Joe,

and when our sun dies, back to stars we will go.

So as you hug family, eat the feast, get new stuff,

think of stars and consider “How much is enough?”
