The Best Gift Ever
The Forgotten Tale of Baby Jesus and his Puppy Satan
Close by the straw-filled cradle
Where the baby Jesus nested
Was a cuddly little blue-gray puppy,
curled up in the grass it rested.
You’ve heard about the gold and herbs
That the wise men brought out west
But of the presents that were given
The young king loved this dog the best.
The shepherds, when they paid respects
Under the bright new star,
Had no gold nor incense gifts
To share with the newborn Czar.
But Tina their divine little cowdog bitch,
Who was only just recently delittered,
Had around her pink and dangling tits
Twelve cute little rascals who skittered.
One of all the twelve stood out,
He was not like his mates,
They all had floppy ears, white paws,
And on their bellies figure ‘8’s.
A shepherd girl, she saw the difference
In this boy pup right away.
His ears were aimed straight up to heaven
And his coat was a bluish gray.
So when the shepherd crew they ambled
Over to the glowing barn,
The little shepherd girl among them
Had this puppy on her arm.
The young prince called his doggy “Satan”
After his evil brother
And like a good dog-owning child
Trained him like no other.
Jesus taught that furry Satan
To sit down, and then play dead
And when he told the cur “ You Must Get Back!”
You know that doggy did.
So now you know the Christmas story
Better than you did before,
And to the cast that basks in glory
The shepherd girl and dog add more.
